My running is getting back on track

I had a sub 10 5miler on Sunday and today ran 7 @ 10:19 average. I don't have a desire to run another full at this time but am starting to build an aspiration to PR a half at Mercedes in 2015. The first Mercedes I ran when it was 17 degrees has been my PR to date with a 2 hour 20 minute time. We will see.

Hey its been a long time!

It has been a long time since I put anything on here. I just went back and read my recap on 3N3. I have changed to running for fun. I find myself thinking I need to run more miles but know I don't really at this point. Other than to burn some calories. I make no promises to update this more regularly but maybe I will if for no other reason than to go back and reflect on like I did today. If you read this let me know.

REFLECTION

Ok now that 3N3 is over I will take a moment and reflect back, I put a lot of work and dedication into this. While I ran the whole time I started officially training for this on July 29th. I have ran 4 to 5 days a week every week since then. Running is something I enjoy but it is like I have said many times there is a big difference between running for fun and running for purpose. I am ready to get back to running for fun.(once I recover from Mercedes). I am more beat up from Mercedes than the other 2 but it was the fastest and I think the training has taken its toll. I have tried to do my running where it takes as little family time away as possible but would like to thank Amie and Ally for giving me the opportunity to train with no pressure and the awesome amount of support they have given me. Mercedes was the toughest race but the best because I got to see them several times along the way. Thank you to Charles for tour guiding them! Thank you to Glen for all of the time you put in with me running. I jokingly said I was hanging up my shoes but I think we all know this is not over. I have a hard time with something being "my moment". I also find myself thinking if I can do it anyone can. And they can but they gotta put the work in and most folks are not willing to do it. Thank you to the folks I mentioned above for letting me enjoy my moment.

Race week!!!

I am ready for Sunday!  At least I hope I am. I am ready for it to be over. I am also about ready for this weather to be over. Of course it does not take long to get tired of mowing the grass every week.

Two weeks out form Mercedes.

After a great run on Saturday her I am 2 weeks out. I find myself having to do a lot of self motivating.  I am sure as I work through the taper and rest my body up and get over this cold I will regain focus and enthusiasm.

Snowaggedon 2014

Wow what a shock that was. Getting trapped at work was no fun but so glad the girls were home with power and safe. Ok from zero degrees to 60 and rain in a week. Time to refocus Mercedes is 16 days away!

Well 1 more race on the schedule

And it is a big one. Got the Krispy Kreme donut dash done and it was fun. pushed the pace and felt good. I have to admit I am a little tired. I am 6-1/2 months into hard training and my body is getting tired. I am ready to run Mercedes and let my body catch up. I am proud of my accomplishment thus far and in no way am I ready to give up but I am ready to get it done!

Recovery week from FLM

I have had a great recovery week. 2 great pace 6 milers and a 10 for my long run at a 10:50 average pace. I will miss my long run next week because we will be doing the donut run which I am looking forward to.

FIRST LIGHT MARATHON MOBILE AL

Mobile is an awesome city. Unfortunately my girls were not feeling good the whole trip. I would love to go back and spend some time walking around and taking it all in. The run went pretty well. I made it to the start line unfreaked out which I have managed to do the last two races. My time was not as good as Huntsville but I am very pleased with it. It was very hilly. Glen and I both had good races and we are 2/3 the way there!!! Looking forward to Mercedes!

Race week once again! First light is coming ready or not.

It is weird I did not get stressed out about Rocket City. I felt like I had trained the best I could and was as ready as I was going to get. I am not as confident about FLM. I know I can do it just don't know how well. I will stick to the altered plan I made after RCM and see how it unfolds. Bring it on! After Sunday I will be 2/3 of the way to something a year ago I would have never thought I would have tried.
